Kanhangad - Spirirual Centres

Nityanandasramam

Nityanandasramam is a shrine founded by Swami Nityanandan in 1921, near Hos Durg Fort, a kilometer way from Kanhangad Town. The fort built by king of Ikkeri was later known by the name Nityananda Fort. The people within the country and abroad reach here seeking peace in mind.

Guruvanam

Guruvanam is a secluded forest arranged by Swami Nityananda, the founder of Nityanandasramam in 1923 for meditation. It is situated about six kilometers away from Kanhangad town. This spreads about fifty acres of land surrounded by hills and bushes. An uninterrupted fresh water spring at Guruvanam even in hard summer is an estonishing element. This spring is called Papanasi Ganga (River Ganga that washes away sins) because the believers use this water like Ganga river water for redemption.

Anandasramam

Anandasramam built by Swami Ramadas in 1931 is a shrine and pilgrim centre. Long ago the place in the valley of Manhampothi hill was a sporting venue of wild animals. Now thousands of pilgrims from the country and abroad come here every year. Spiritual library, work shop, house for destitute, prayer hall, garden, feeding house, etc. are the other features of importance owned by the shrine. A monthly in English, Vision, has being published since 1933.

Khasi House
Khasi House situated at Kottacheri is a cultural centre of about seventy Muslim personalities in and around Kanhangad established in 1973. It is the centre of Muslim spiritual leader Khasi who proclaims spiritual rules (fat va) and instructs customs and rites. This centre proved right to solve many issues among various groups.
